The Department of Computer Science and Engineering hosted a Workshop on Diversity, Tolerance, and Pluralism for Engineering Students on May 26, 2022, in collaboration with its Club Partners: IEEE Computer Society IUB Student Branch Chapter, JUKTI – Official Club of CSE, and IUB ACM Student Chapter. Our two guest speakers led the workshop. Fahmida Rahman, Lecturer and Program Coordinator in the School of General Education at Brac University, was one of them. Imran Nawaz Khurshid, Project Manager of CES, ULAB, was our other speaker. The workshop was attended by more than 60 people. The primary goal of this workshop was to teach students about the emergence, evolution, and impact of social conflicts and discrimination. Students were able to distinguish between credible sources and misinformation outlets as a result of this workshop. This skill will assist engineering students in identifying radical viewpoints that divide society. The perspective gained from this workshop may assist students in promoting positive social change in the leadership positions that they will hold in the future while working in various industries.
